The painting is inspired by the book/BBC series or the Way We live now by Anthony Trollope. The figures are inspired on flowers and the antagonist Augustus Melmotte I kept as a human, painted in a minimalistic and impasto way, showing him clinging to a place in Parliament, earned with his scams. The train, part of his scam becomes a monster devouring him in the end.
